1.  What was the first all-time basketball victory for Henrico High School?

 

      On December 8, 1962, Henrico defeated Madison High School 41-34. The Warriors were led in scoring by Kenny Foster with 17         

      points. Walter Zyglocke scored the first basket in school history. The contest was played at Hermitage High School.

 

 

2.  What former Henrico player coached, played, and served as a general manager in the NBA?

 

      Allan Bristow (1969) played college basketball at Virginia Tech, and was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2nd round of the

      1973 NBA Draft. A 6'7", 210 lbs. forward, he had a 10-year career in the both the NBA and the ABA, playing for the 76ers, the San

      Antonio Spurs (in both leagues), the Utah Jazz, and finishing his playing career with the Dallas Mavericks. In 1991, Bristow was

      hired to be the third head coach for the Charlotte Hornets franchise, a position he held for five years. Bristow resigned in 1996.

      He would become the New Orleans Hornets' general manager in 2004.

      The game occurred on March 8, 2013 against John Marshall. The Warriors won the game 72-48. The contest was played in front of

      a sold‐out crowd at VCU’s Siegel Center and was televised statewide. The win enabled the Warriors to finish with a new school

      record of 30 wins.

 

 

6.  What is the longest streak of Regional Tournament appearances in school history?

 

      The streak lasted for 16 years. (2000-2016)

 

 

7.  Who are the tallest players to play for Henrico High School?

 

      Bruce Brown (2001) was 6’11 tall. He would later play for Hampton University.

      Deven Dickerson (2003) was 6’9 tall. He would later play for Georgia State University.

 

 

8.  Which players have been named the Richmond Times Dispatch Player of the Year?

 

      Rafer Giles was the 1986 Player of the Year. Giles would later play at the University of Massachusetts for Coach John Calipari.

      UMass honored Giles by naming their “6th Man” award for his achievements.

     

      Monte Buckingham won the award in 2015 after leading hs team to three consecutive State Championship Games with two state

      titles.  He is currently playing at the University of Richmond where he was awarded as Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year.

      On February 21, 2011 Henrico defeated Lee-Davis 123-55.

     The game occurred on March 14, 2015 versus Norview. The Warriors won the game 78-64. The contest was played at VCU’s Siegel

     Center and was televised statewide. The victory completed a 28-1 season and a 3 game sweep of Norview (including the Va. Preps

     Classic and Regional Championship).
